See. I told you I've been busy.

First off, I turned 33. Yep. In the midst of all the other stuff I've been doing recently, I also got old. Damn.

The good news: Because it was my birthday, I got to drink rosé during the day and go yard saleing. (Not in that order.) I also got to eat large quantities of steak and grilled pizza, and read on the sofa for a couple of hours.

Believe it or not, this is pretty much what defines my idea of a good time. Other people want hot air balloons and fancy gifts. I, on the other hand, pretty much just want to eat well in good company, drink murky weird french rosé, and prowl the earth for good deals on old junk.

Yep. I'm one sophisticated lass.

Even better than getting to prowl for good deals on junk is finding good deals on junk, and this past weekend was an absolute boon!!!

In addition to the awesome brass pineapple lamps (2 for $7.00!) and the incredible 5'0" steel decorative coat rack ($20.00) which have yet to be photographed (pending...) I picked up a true bounty of other goodies.

Concrete column. ($10) Literally weighs 50 pounds.
I'm positive it weighs at least 50 pounds, because when I carried it to the car, it definitely weighed twice as much as Jules. To be clear, I already had the terra cotta ball-- it was just waiting for the right concrete column to come along and make it *shine*.

Carved, woven-seat chair. ($15) Apparently this is from the "Civil War Area". I can only assume the seller meant "era" but didn't want to squabble with her. I should have taken a closer photo-- the chair actually has very pretty, very delicate painting details on the frame. It's actually quite lovely... What ever area it's from.

And lastly, this wig-a-doo wicker-and-iron-base table. ($5) The legs are actually very pretty, intricate steel; wrapped in wicker ribbon with a wicker top. I'm probably going to refinish this
if I ever get a chance-- it would look far more glorious with a fresh coat
of stain and sealant, but for now, I'm pretty pleased with it sitting in the living room, as is.

I'll make an effort to photograph my pineapple lamps tomorrow, but I'll wait to show you my phenomenal, enormous coat rack until it's up 'n-at-em. Patience is a virtue.

  1. Hi Julie! The blog isn't over-- I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you. I've been inundated with work and have been working on a DIY book which has consumed SO MUCH TIME! I really should have posted about the book so everyone didn't think I'd been kidnapped, but I was so busy, I didn't have time to write about being busy! : )

I promise I'm going to try to post with greater consistency going forward-- the book has to be handed in next week, and then I'll be back in the saddle. Thanks for your patience-- I hope you'll come back and read again!
